Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No  it’s NW Skyfest 2023! NW Skyfest is the largest skydiving festival of its kind in the Northwest with skydiving, paragliding, food, music, and much more. September 29th through October 1st, 2023 in Chelan, WA.

Whether you stay on the ground or join in the high-flying fun in the air, NW Skyfest is always a good time. The annual festival, typically held the first weekend of every October, is hosted by Skydive Chelan. Skydive Chelan is a local adventure company that provides skydiving opportunities and a variety of related events throughout the year.

SkyFest is held at Skydive Chelan’s offices, located at 201 Airport Way, at the Lake Chelan Airport, just under a half hour’s drive from Kelly’s Resort. The annual event presents a chance to see a variety of aircraft close-up, make new friends, have fun, and, if you wish, maybe even enjoy a skydive!

NW SkyFest 2023

The 11th annual NW Skyfest is scheduled for Friday, September 29 through Sunday, October 1, 10:30am to 5pm every day.

This year’s festival promises a host of attractions and entertainment. Aircraft at the show include three planes, a LongRanger helicopter, a Robinson R44 helicopter, and a Stearman biplane.

Along with the chance to see these fantastic aircraft up close, you’ll also enjoy live music, food trucks, and fun activities like the human pyramid and blindfolded packing.

The real action wil be up in the sky, however. Festival days see all manner of aerial sports. Things like paragliding, speedflying, paramotors, and lots of jumps. Formation jumps, wingsuit jumps, helicopter jumps, even  first-time jumpers making tandem jumps.

Those up in in the air will also reap the benefit of viewing the Chelan Valley and much more from the air. The majestic Cascade Mountains, the Columbia River, beautiful Lake Chelan, and mile after mile of vineyards. All laid out before you as far as the eye can see. Wonderful and humbling.

NW Skyfest also takes the time to remember those who are no longer with us with a sunset, cross country flight. Jumpers open their chutes at 10,000 feet, enjoy a long parachute flight, then drop flowers over the lake. A very touching sight to behold.
