Get ready for NW Skyfest 2024, the largest skydiving festival of its kind in the Pacific Northwest! Each year sees exciting skydiving, paragliding, vintage aircraft displays, food, music, and more. October 4th through the 6th, 2024 in Chelan, WA.
There are a million reasons to visit Lake Chelan; boating, fishing, camping, hiking, vineyards, orchards, and more. Fun events like NW Skyfest are just the cherry on top – but what a cherry! If you’ve ever wanted to jump out of a plane or find it exciting to watch others do so, this is the event for you.
2024 sees the 12th annual return of this popular event, which is typically held the first weekend of every October. The festival is hosted by Skydive Chelan, a local company offering a variety of skydiving services here in Chelan. In fact their offices and the event are just under a half hour’s drive from Kelly’s Resort.
NW Skyfest 2024
As mentioned above, NW Skyfest 2024 is scheduled for October 4-6, 2024 and will be held at at 201 Airport Way, at the Lake Chelan Airport. The festival atmosphere extends beyond the airfield with food vendors, craft stalls, and live music.
Of course, the real attraction is all overhead. Festival days are full of exciting paragliding, speedflying, paramotors, and lots and lots of jumps. You’ll see stunning formation jumps, wingsuit jumps, and helicopter jumps. The festival is also great for would-be first-time jumpers looking to make that very first tandem jump. So exciting – and what a wonderful way to get an expansive view of the Chelan valley. Wow!
Other festival attractions include three aircraft displays: a Cessna Caravan, a LongRanger helicopter, and a Stearman Biplane. Hunga Dunga Brewing will be on hand with their delicious brews, along with scrumptions offerings from the Blue Skies food truck. Activities include a human pyramid, blindfolded packing, and a chance to chat with the pilots. There’s even face painting and other fun for the kiddos.
Those who are no longer with us are remembered at the event with a sunset, cross country flight. Jumpers open their chutes at 10,000 feet for a long flight, dropping flowers over the lake for remembrance. A very moving sight.
